Doshka — online whiteboard for teamwork and lessons
Help
How to work with Doshka, from your first board to running a lesson. Can't find an answer? Write to us on the Contacts page.
Getting started
- Sign up on the home page (email and password) and click “Create a new board”.
- To invite people, click “Share” and turn on link access. There are three links: “Can edit”, “Can comment” and “View only”.
- Participants don't need to sign up: they open the link and enter just their name.
- New boards are private: until you turn on link access, only you can see them.
Drawing, shapes and diagrams
- Tools are on the top bar: selection, shapes, arrows, lines, pencil, text, images, eraser. Keys 1–9 switch them faster.
- Place an arrow or line with two clicks: start and end. An arrow started on a shape is bound to it and follows the shape.
- “Library” on the right has 161 ready-made shapes: flowcharts, BPMN, UML, C4, architecture, Gantt chart.
- The “◧ Shapes” panel on the right stays open after inserting: basic shapes, flowchart and BPMN 2.0 (events, tasks, gateways, pools with lanes, flows). Click puts a shape next to the selected one, drag puts it anywhere.
- A rectangle has 12 arrow points (three per side), a diamond and an ellipse have 8: the arrow snaps to the nearest.
- “+” buttons around the selected shape: a click adds the same shape next to it, already connected. Keyboard: Ctrl + arrow key.
- An arrow can have several labels: double-click for the middle label, “T+” buttons on the selected arrow for labels near the start and the end (“Yes” / “No” at a gateway). Labels follow the arrow and can be dragged along it.
- “☰ More” → “Smart drawing”: a hand-drawn rectangle, circle, diamond, triangle or line becomes a clean shape.
- “☰ More” → “Arrange diagram”: shapes with arrows line up top to bottom or left to right.
- Fonts with Cyrillic are in the selected text's settings: handwritten, plain, serif.
Stickers and voting
- The “Sticker” button puts a sticker in the centre of the screen; 12 colours. “Stickers from a list” makes one sticker per line of text.
- Sticker tags and authors are in “☰ More”. “Export to CSV” exports sticker text for Excel.
- “Stickers from a photo” (in “Tools”): photograph paper sticky notes and they appear on the board with their text. The photo is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
- “☰ More” → “Voting”: each participant puts dots on the elements they like; results are shown at the end.
Files
Drag a file onto the board or choose “☰ More” → “Add file”.
- Images (JPEG, PNG, GIF, SVG, WebP, HEIC, PSD, BMP) — up to 40 MB and 8192×4096 pixels.
- PDF, Word and PowerPoint documents — as pages you can write on.
- Excel and CSV tables — as an editable table.
- Audio and video — up to 300 MB, with a player right on the board. YouTube videos — by link.
Tools and templates
The “Tools” button is on the top bar. The “Tools” tab has:
- Dice, a timer (ticks the same for everyone), a meeting agenda with a countdown per item.
- Project timeline, a live table with sorting and totals, a formatted document (everyone writes at once).
- Tasks (kanban) and a task card, planning poker for estimating tasks with cards.
- Ready-made structures: table, kanban, mind map, 16:9 slides, org chart from CSV.
- Wheel of fortune — a random pick from a list (spins the same for everyone), flip cards: question — answer, word — translation.
The “Templates” tab has 17 templates for project and lesson stages: SWOT, retro, OKR, lesson plan, team zones and more. You can turn your own board into a template on the home page (“Make a template”).
Running a lesson or meeting
- “☰ More” → “Summon everyone”: all participants' screens jump to where you are.
- Click a participant's avatar to follow them and see what they see.
- Private mode: participants' ideas are visible only to them until you reveal everything at once.
- “Hide from participants”: only you see the selection (answers, the next task) until you reveal it.
- Presentation: frames on the board become slides, participants follow you.
- Task for everyone: turn on the assignment link in “Share” — each participant gets their own copy of the board, and you get a list of their work.
- Cursor message — the “/” key. Emoji reactions — the 👍 button.
Comments and history
- The 💬 button: comment on a spot on the board or on an element, reply, mark “Resolved”. @name mentions a participant.
- “☰ More” → “Activity feed”: who added, changed or deleted what.
- Version history: the board saves a snapshot every 10 minutes; you can view and restore any version.
- Layers (“☰ More” → “Layers”): group elements into a layer, hide it for yourself, select it as a whole.
Organisations (school, team)
- On the home page: “Create an organisation”. All its members see the organisation's boards.
- Members are added by email or with an invitation link (the “Members” window).
- Auto-join domains: members with an email on the organisation's domain get an email and join themselves.
- Organisation administrators can see the activity log: who joined, left, created and deleted boards.
- Educational institutions can get the education plan with a letter from their head; details are on the Contacts page.
Keyboard shortcuts
- Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y — undo / redo. Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V — copy, paste. Delete — delete.
- Space + mouse or the wheel — move the canvas. Ctrl + wheel — zoom. To zoom with the plain wheel like in Miro: main menu (☰ top left) → “Zoom with mouse wheel”.
- A minimap of the whole board — main menu → “Show minimap”. Click the map to go there.
- 1–9 — tools, “/” — cursor message, Ctrl + arrow in a mind map — new branch.
- Arrow keys with nothing selected scroll the canvas smoothly (faster with Shift). Ctrl+Shift+L or the “🔒” button next to the selection locks it so it can't be moved by accident; “🔒” over a locked item unlocks it; drag a box around an area and “🔓 Unlock (N)” unlocks everything in it.
API for integrations
For your own programs and scripts: on the home page, “🔑 API keys” → create a key (it's shown once — keep it like a password). Send requests with the header Authorization: Bearer dk_…
- GET /api/v1/me — who owns the key; GET /api/v1/boards — your boards.
- POST /api/v1/boards { title } — create a board; GET /api/v1/boards/<id> — the board's elements.
- POST /api/v1/boards/<id>/stickers { stickers: [{ text, color }] } — add stickers (up to 100 at a time). Colours: yellow, green, blue, pink, orange, violet, red, teal, lime, cyan, gray, white.
- Up to 120 requests per minute per key. A key has the same rights as you: personal boards and your organisations' boards.
Custom tools (for developers)
A developer can build their own tool in HTML and JavaScript and add it to “Tools” on the board. On the home page, “🧩 My tools” → “Download example” gives a ready working sample.
- A tool is a zip archive up to 5 MB: manifest.json (name, icon, size, initial state), index.html and your own scripts, styles and images.
- Include <script src="/ext/sdk.js"> in index.html. Doshka.onChange(…) reports the state, Doshka.update({ … }) changes it for all participants, Doshka.setPersonal(…) stores a participant's own value (a vote, an answer).
- The tool runs in an isolated sandbox: it cannot see the page or the Doshka sign-in and cannot reach the internet. Put external libraries into the archive.
- To upload: “🧩 My tools” → “Upload zip”; choose who can use it: only you or your organization. “New version” updates it on every board.
- From your own software: PUT /api/tools/<id> with an API key (Authorization: Bearer dk_…) and the zip as the body — handy for automated builds.
- Catalog: “Publish” in “🧩 My tools” makes a tool available to everyone after an automatic check (a description, the SDK included, no links to other sites or page changes). Others get it only if they click “Install” themselves on the “🧩 Catalog” tab of the Tools window. After 3 reports a tool leaves the catalog on its own; the last 5 versions are kept and you can roll back to any of them.
FAQ
- The connection or power went out. Your edits aren't lost: they're kept in the browser and sent to the server once you're back online. The “✓ Saved” mark at the top shows everything is on the server.
- Forgot your password. On the sign-in page, click “Forgot password?” and you'll get an email with a link.
- Deleted a board by mistake. It stays in the trash on the home page for 30 days — restore it with one click.
- Where data is stored. On servers in Belarus, with a backup every night.
- How to install Doshka as an app. In Chrome and Edge (Windows, macOS, Android), use the “Install app” button on the home page or the install icon in the address bar. On iPhone and iPad, in Safari tap “Share” → “Add to Home Screen”. An icon appears and Doshka opens in its own window.
- A participant can't draw. Check which link you gave them: “View only” and “Can comment” don't allow drawing.
